40 days left until the start of the main festival of the free port of Vladivostok – V-ROX, which will celebrate its 5th year. Over 300 participants from all over the world will be taking part at the festival between 4-6 August on the Sports Embankment and other venues in the city. The festival will involve not only music concerts but also cinema showings, educational programme in a form of a conference and a sports programme. The festival will once again see the return of its highly popular market and a ‘musical run’. Over the last few weeks we have been revealing our festival lineup, so far the festival are excited to be welcoming — Filligar (USA), Echo &Tito (Israel), Graham Candy (New Zealand), Husky (Russia),LudiSTELO (South Korea), Uhnellys (Japan), Rec On (Mongolia), National Pigeon Unity (South Korea), Elektromonteur (Russia) and Jan & Naomi (Japan).
Ilya Lagutenko the curator of V-ROX Festivals said: “In Russia it was was announced that 2017 will be the year of ecology. We have already launched a series of events to support this wonderful cause in partnership wth Island Dreams and Vladivostok city administration. Also we are also pleased to say that the spotlight country for this year will be Japan and its culture in all its colours: from food to music to traditional Japanese arts master classes.
We will also be welcoming the pioneers of contemporary artists, for example, Gary Baseman, known to the Russians as the creator of the animated series “Teacher’s Pet”. He will meet with local artists and with those who are fond of animation. Another guest willl be a street artsist, working unde the name of ‘Sonny’, he will will paint on one of the facades of the buildings of Vladivostok- expressing the History of the Amur tiger through art. This will be part of the world project for the Discovery channel in partnership with respective organisations: ‘IFAW’ and the ‘Land of the Leopard’ . Also guests will see an exclusive “Maritime” collection from a famous designer Gosha Rubchinskij. I don’t want to reveal all the secrets, you just come and be with us 4-6 August.”
V-ROX is the biggest international music festival and conference, launched in 2013 in the city of Vladivostok. The ideology behind it it comes from the of the most respected musicians and the pioneer of rock Ilya Lagutenko (leader of Mumiy Troll band). V-ROX gives a unique opportunity to aspiring musicians and producers to showcase their talents to not only new audience but to also to international music experts.
