WA Rubbers

WA Rubbers was formed in Okinawa in 2015. It was originally an underground video production group called “channel 6” whose leading members were in their 20’s, graduated from design schools, and they released short films and photo books. At the same time, some of the members started a shop of clothes, indie CDs, and imports, Music LIVE Bar in Okinawa.

From about 2013, they started musical activities as a band, using common musical instruments to themselves such as the guitar, a washboard, the Okinawan tradition instrument, and so on. In 2015, it came to the current members and the band “Wa Rubbers” was formed. In the same year, two of their songs were collected in the compilation album “RUSTIC STOMP 2015,” that is for domestic sales in Japan, and the band drew attention to itself.

In 2016, their first overseas performance was held in Taipei City, Taiwan. In 2016, their 1st album “MOU! ASHI! BEAT!” was released. In April, the band member took the leading part of a free outdoor festival called “ODD LAND” in which about 100 bands gather from different parts of Japan to perform, and it made a splash. Besides their music, they cover a wide range of activities such as designing, event organizing, website designing, and more. The collective currently grabs the greatest attention in Okinawa.
